As I stood before our employees, partners, and special guests on September 2nd, I was struck by the significance of the moment. Velatron Technologies has officially reached its 80th anniversary – a milestone that very few companies in our industry, or in Ontario, can claim.
For eight decades, our company has been at the forefront of designing and manufacturing custom transformers, inductors, coils, and advanced assemblies. What started as a small operation in the 1940s has grown into a trusted leader in Canada and abroad, supplying industries that range from medical to space technologies and everything in between. This anniversary was more than a celebration of longevity – it was a moment to honor the people and partnerships that made it possible.
We were deeply honored to welcome the Premier of Ontario, Honorable Doug Ford, the Mayor of Kitchener, Honorable Berry Vrbanovic, and our local Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP), Honorable Jess Dixon, to our facility for the celebration. Their presence underscored the importance of Ontario-based manufacturing and the role companies like ours play in driving innovation and economic growth.
Their words of encouragement and recognition meant a great deal to our employees. It’s not every day that frontline operators, engineers, and office staff get to meet their provincial and municipal leaders face-to-face. Seeing our team beam with pride as they shared what they do was one of the most rewarding parts of the day for me.
We were also joined by many of our partners and customers, who have trusted us with their most challenging projects. Our collaborations have not only pushed us to think bigger but have also led to innovations that are shaping the future of electronics and energy systems.
Above all, this milestone belongs to our employees. Each person who walks through our doors contributes to a legacy that stretches back 80 years. From the production floor to the design lab, from the front office to shipping, it is their dedication, creativity, and craftsmanship that have fueled Velatron’s growth.
Our products may be technical, but our real strength lies in people. Many of our employees have been with us for decades, passing along skills and knowledge to the next generation. Their loyalty and hard work embody the values that have carried us through changing markets, technological revolutions, and economic uncertainty.
While we reflected on the past, the anniversary was also a chance to look forward. The world of manufacturing is evolving faster than ever. Global supply chain challenges, shifting trade dynamics, and rising demand for advanced technologies mean that companies must be bold and adaptable. At Velatron, we embrace this as an opportunity to think bigger, move faster, and innovate smarter.
